Fire

LEVEL 1

TRANSFER HEAT:

As basic as basic can be; simply focus on your own body heat and “push” it out to your target object. This will either burn, char, or melt it.

It’s a simple ability but without further training, you’re limited to whatever the object’s natural flammability/melting point is (ex. chocolate would melt, while paper would char/catch on fire). It is advised that beginners start with more flammable/meltable objects first, like candles or ice, to get a feel for the process first, without succumbing to magical exhaustion or overheating.

Uses of this ability include:

  • Thawing frozen food

  • Testing melting points for chemistry

  • Starting a quick fire

  • Metallurgy

SKILL LEVEL 1: Waning Wax

Can only melt easily meltable objects i.e wax, ice, chocolate.

SKILL LEVEL 2: Charred Bark

Can now also burn tougher materials like wood, and melt materials like plastic.

SKILL LEVEL 3: Metal Melter

Can now also melt most metals including iron.

INFRARED VISION:

Typically overlooked as unnecessary or “not as fun as setting things on fire,” but seeing infrared can be very helpful, even in the heat of battle! (Pun intended) To use this ability you must center Fire magic through your eyes while focusing on your own body temperature. Try to visualize what it’d look like, as well as what the absence of that heat would look like. You should then see the heat signatures of your surroundings as fuzzy colored outlines. From hottest to coldest the colors are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet. This is a rather low effort ability, however, overuse can lead to headaches and blurry vision.

Uses of this ability include:

  • Hunting

  • Navigation

  • Surveillance

  • Search and rescue

SKILL LEVEL 1: Hot or Cold

Can only see objects as hot (red) or cold (blue).

SKILL LEVEL 2: See the Spectrum

Can now see in the full infrared spectrum.

SKILL LEVEL 3: Lasting Vision

Can now use the ability for longer periods of time. About 3 hours max.

INCREASE TEMPERATURE:

A rudimentary yet important ability, especially if you wish to brave say, the Silver Peaks. To use this ability you must let Fire magic spread throughout your body, letting it warm your very core. This ability is usually accompanied by a soft red-glow emitting from the body. Most auri use this glow as an indicator of whether they’re successfully using the ability or not. Note that to the user, the heat will always feel comfortable, but to others, the heat will feel as hot as your skill level dictates.

Uses of this ability include:

  • Keeping warm

  • Warming others

  • Warding off attackers

SKILL LEVEL 1: Fire Fever

Can only increase temperature to a manageable fever (about 98.6° F or 37° C).

SKILL LEVEL 2: Hazefire Hot

Can now increase temperature to that of a desert (136° F or 58° C).

SKILL LEVEL 3: Boiling Burn

Can now increase temperature to that of boiling water (212° F or 100° C).

SECONDARY ABILITY

Secondary ability: Heater - PASSIVE

Your work with Fire magic has stoked the fire within! Now you naturally generate a warm air around you. Toasty!
