INDEPENDENT MAGIC

One of two methods of learning magic is through learning independently! Learning magic via self-taught methods typically takes longer than class-taught however you can learn at your own pace with your own prompts!

The "finish" of your pieces will affect how quickly you complete the level. For example, learning magic will be slower if you only draw fullbodies instead of full scenes.

Each ability MUST be depicted at least ONCE!

Don't worry though! If you start with a fullbody as the first piece, you're not locked into doing only fullbodies for the rest, you can vary your images with how 'finished' they are.

Once you complete a level, if your gained EXP surpasses the level up number, your extra EXP will NOT transfer over to the next level.

Your count will be reset to 0 and you'll have to work your way back up to the next EXP goal!

EXP values and how much EXP you need to level up below!

Important Note:

Please do NOT copy the example OC you see featured in this guide. This is a preexisting design owned by SKEPTiiCAT. Thank you.

EXP Values & Level Up Requirements

LEVEL 1: 100 EXP     LEVEL 2: 150 EXP     LEVEL 3: 200 EXP     LEVEL 4: 250 EXP

Fullbody: 15 EXP

  • Your aurillion should be 100% visible

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Shaded Fullbody: 17 EXP

  • Your aurillion should be 100% visible

  • Shading should be detailed! It should be enough to count for Complex Shading bells!

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  | [3]

Full Scene: 25 EXP

  • The majority of your aurillion should be visible

    • It's all right if the tail or the paws/ankles are cut off!

  • Shading should be complex shading! It should be enough to count for Complex Shading bells!

  • The background should be detailed! It should be enough to count for Complex Background bells!

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Submit all independent learning magic art to #magic-art! Don't forget to count your bells, AND your EXP!

EXP works similar to bell counting except instead of your new total, it'd be total EXP needed to level up!:

[EXP earned]/[Total EXP needed]

ex: 15/100 EXP

Bonus EXP Methods

These are small, additional methods you can use to gain more EXP!

Call a Friend: +10 EXP per time an auri who already knows magic is depicted helping!

  • Got a friend who already knows that magic level? Great! For each time your auri is drawn learning magic with another auri who already knows the same magic type you get a bonus of 10 EXP!
The guest Aurillion must be officially registered on the magic masterlist and must be shown helping in some way (demonstration, instructing, etc.).

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Co-Op Mode: +5 EXP per time your auri & someone else's are depicted practicing with each other!

  • Got a friend but they're still learning too? That works as well! For each time your auri is drawn learning magic with another auri, you'll both get a bonus of 5 EXP!
This auri has to be learning the same element & level your auri is learning and both should be shown doing some type of magic learning, practice, etc.

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Help From a Pet: +10 EXP per time your pet is depicted using its ability along with your auri!

  • If your pet can use an ability similar to one your auri's learning, draw them helping out by using the ability with them, or perhaps have the pet demonstrate the ability to your auri! Each depiction will net you a bonus of 10 EXP!
This only applies to pets with magic & it only works if the abilities match!
Example: Monkits have sound manipulation, so your monkit can only provide a boost for the Alter Volume ability!

  • The pet must be certified for magic training [link to trained pet masterlist]!

  • Lastly, the pet used MUST be yours.

  • Here's a neat list of all the pets that can help out!

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Private Lessons: +20 EXP for Level 1  |  +30 EXP for Level 2  |  +40 EXP for Level 3  |  +50 EXP for Level 4

  • Got a tutoring ticket? Perfect! The corresponding teacher will now make arrangements to give you private lessons for one whole level! The teacher must be depicted in each image as at least a half body.

  • All extra EXP will carry over to the next level once you're finished!

  • Each ticket is only good for 1 magic level, but the tutoring can be activated at any time!

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

Just Google It: +5 EXP for each image for 1 level after 2 research images are drawn!

  • Social interaction not your style? That's understandable, and lucky for you, the internet exists!
    And books too, I guess.
To activate this bonus, draw 2 fullbodies of your aurillion doing magic learning research (internet, books, etc.) and then receive +5 EXP for each magic image for the rest of that level!

  • Only lasts for 1 level & can only be used once per level.
  • The research images do not count for EXP.

  • Examples: [1]  |  [2]  |  [3]

More methods to earn EXP may be added in the future!

Subspecies Bonus

Got a subspecies? Well, great they have a special bonus just for them!

Each subspecies has a natural affinity towards one specific element!

Each is born with a secondary ability automatically and can learn the element they’re connected to faster than any others!

Ex. Naganids are aligned to the Poison element, they are naturally born with the secondary ability Toxin Immunity and can learn Poison magic much faster and easier than standards or any other subspecies!

A subspecies earns twice the amount of EXP per magic image for the element they're aligned to!

Ex. A fullbody normally nets you 15 EXP, but the Subspecies Bonus would net you 30 EXP!

Important Notes:
1. This only applies to the subspecies’ aligned element!! A Naganid would earn the same amount of EXP learning Fire magic as any other species.

2. If a subspecies is aligned to an advanced element (ice, lightning, poison, psychic) they can jump right into learning that magic type without needing to have learned 2 level 1 basic magics!

  • This only applies to that one element!
Ex. a Naganid may learn Poison magic freely, but if they wanted to learn, say, Ice magic they would need to meet the normal requirements first!

  • Babies are still, of course, limited to learning one level 1 magic!

3. This counts ONLY for independent learning!! Classes are already a quicker way to learn magic, so no bonus can be applied to them.

4. Skill levels are also unaffected! They may be better at learning the element but mastering abilities takes just as much effort as it does for everyone else!

Submit all bonus learning methods to #magic-art as well!

Don't forget to count your bells, AND your EXP for these too!

Also, remember to list/link to any extra reqs needed to activate any of the methods!

ex: for Call a Friend make sure to list the name & owner of the helping auri so they can be checked against the masterlist!
Or for Just Google It make sure to link to the 2 research images to activate the bonus!
